Vantage is pleased to announce that Brittany Johnson has joined our team! Meet Brittany…

Brittany Johnson is a Chicago native and is currently a student at Clark Atlanta University where she is in the process of attaining her marketing degree. Brittany joins us this summer to support our marketing efforts, especially social media and blogging.

“As an aspiring brand manager, I have lots of interest and experience on many social media platforms, which is a demanding part of any business in today’s world. I chose to study marketing because of the fun yet challenging position where you have to be analytical and where critical problem solving skills are needed to ensure brand recognition and advancement and a strong ROI. What I love most about social media strategizing, is when my brain is rushed with many creative ideas and being able to finally select the most fitting solution. I believe my time here at Vantage Solutions will give me real world experience that I can apply to the duration of my undergraduate studies at Clark Atlanta University and on a professional level in the future.”

In addition to a hectic school and work life, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending social gatherings, reading, and all things fashion.  Learn more about Brittany’s story here

Vantage Intern Recognized at UNCF “A Mind Is…” Gala

On Saturday, June 25, 2016, Vantage’s National Managing Director Vanessa Smith and Summer Intern Brittany Johnson were honored to be featured at this year’s UNCF “A Mind Is..” Gala.  Brittany’s story, including her internship with Vantage, was shared with the nearly 500 attendees, including many corporate and civic leaders, politicians, alumni, and other guests who came out to support “Education’s Biggest Night.”

Honorees included David Casper of BMO Harris Bank, Deirdre Drake, Senior VP and Chief Human Resources Officer at U.S. Cellular and Gary and Denise Gardner of the Gary and Denise Gardner Family Foundation. Entertainment included performances by Chicago’s own Teresa Griffin and Angie Stone.

Vanessa served on the Executive Planning Committee for this year’s Gala and is a donor and sponsor of this noble organization, which provides millions in scholarships annually to students attending historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). As a HBCU graduate, Vanessa supports UNCF’s mission and believes in the power of substantially investing in young millennials to create an impact on their future. Brittany is a UNCF scholar and was also featured at the Gala last year as a speaker, giving her testimony about the challenges of not being financially prepared for her college experience at Clark Atlanta University.

UNCF’s slogan “A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but a wonderful thing to invest in” was fulfilled once again by Brittany’s continued studies at CAU and the opportunity to have her first professional internship.

The New DOL New overtime rules are here. What do you do now?

A multi-disciplinary Vantage team of consultants– representing compliance, compensation, organizational development and project management– recently hosted a webinar to provide employers with guidance on how to best implement the new rules within their organizations. The FLSA overtime changes will apply to you if you have any employees who meet the job duties and salary basis tests for a ‘white collar’ exemption and if their salaries fall between the old and the new threshold for the salary level requirement.

The focus of the webinar went well beyond the details of the rules to help attendees understand the many options that might be available to them as they implement the new rules to meet the December 1, 2016 effective date. The speakers discussed strategies for compliance, including organizational restructuring and outsourcing appropriate functions, as well as solutions to address the impact of the change on your people, processes, budget and technology.

Vantage has prepared a DOL Implementation Checklist to help employers ensure the are addressing all the relevant issues and a copy of the webinar presentation can be found here.

In addition, Vantage has developed a menu of services specifically designed to help employers navigate this complex implementation process. For more information, please call us and let us know how we can help.
